Three Beavers Compete at John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. - Three University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field athletes qualified for the John Thomas Terrier Classic and had the privilege of competing against some of the top athletes in the world at this weekend's event hosted at The Track in Boston, Massachusetts. 

Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) and Carrie Burr (Pittston, Maine) each competed in the 200 meters. Burr also competed in the 400 meters while Johnson competed in the 60 meter hurdles. Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) competed in the mile.

In the 200 meters, Johnson broke the school record, posting a time of 28.42 seconds to place 140th overall in the event. Johnson's record did not stand for long. Burr quickly shattered that record, posting a time of 27.67 and finished 119th overall.

In the 400 meters, Burr won her heat and posted a time of 1:02.29 to break the program record by over a second and a half. Burr placed 75th overall.

Evans ran a respectful 5:39.12 mile to place 189th overall in the event.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Johnson posted a time of 10.09 seconds to claim 12th place overall.

The Beavers return to action next Saturday at the Maine State Championships hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
