Pair of Beaver Qualify for Regionals at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Connecticut - Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) and James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each qualified for the New England Regional Championship in the 3k meter steeplechase at today's Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut.

Freeman qualified for the New England Regional Championships after placing 6th overall in the 3k steeplechase, posting a time of 10:07.55 in the event. Riley did not finish too far behind Freeman, posting a time of 10:09.55, just two seconds behind Freeman to also punch his ticket to the New England Regional Championship.

Senior Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) competed in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 1:58.06 in the event to place 6th overall and set a new program record in the process.

Senior Luke Bliss (Underhill, Vermont) competed in the 5,000 meters and posted a respectable time of 15:41.15 to place 16th overall in the event. The time from Bliss was a personal record in outdoor track of 31 seconds.

First-year Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) finished 24th overall in the 1,500 meter race, posting an impressive time of 4:15.23.

On the women's side, Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) finished with a personal record in the 3k meter steeplechase, posting a big time of 13:08.57 to place 13th overall in the event.

Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) placed 16th overall in the 1,500 meter race, posting a time of 5:17.31 in the event.

The Beavers showed very well for themselves in the Silfen Invitational and will continue their weekend at the Monks Invitational on Saturday and Sunday hosted by Saint Joseph's College.
