MacDonald, Perkins, and Trussell Receive NAC Athlete of the Week Honors

WATERVILLE, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor Maine), junior Nate Trussell (Berwick, Maine), and first-year Samuel Perkins (Jay, Maine) have received North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Athlete of the Week honors the conference office announced earlier this afternoon. 

MacDonald and Trussell were each named NAC Track Athletes of the Week while Perkins was named the NAC Rookie of the Week.

MacDonald delivered a standout performance in the 5,000 meters this past Sunday at the Springfield College Invite, finishing with a time of 19:35.39. She secured third place overall in the event and is currently seeded third overall in the conference for the event. The award for MacDonald is the first track and field Athlete of the Week honor of her career.

Trussell had a fantastic day on Sunday in Springfield, scoring in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. In the 110 meter hurdles, Trussell finished with an impressive time of 15.16 seconds, good for second overall at the meet. Trussell also punched his ticket to the New England Championship in the 110 meter hurdles and broke his own program record. In the 400 meter hurdles, Trussell posted a time of 1:03.60, picking up three additional points for the team with a sixth place finish.

Perkins becomes the second Beaver in as many weeks to earn the NAC Rookie of the Week award. Perkins placed third overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Sunday, finishing with a time of 11:00.19. The performance for Perkins moved him into third place in the conference rankings for the event.
