Three Beavers Compete at Farly Inter Regional

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Three University of Maine at Farmington track and field athletes compete at the Farly Inter Regional meet hosted by Williams College this Friday and Saturday. 

Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) competed in the heptathlon, Nate Trussell (Brewer, Maine) competed in the 200 meter dash and the 110 meter hurdles, and Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) competed in the shot put and the Hammer Throw. 

Burr was phenomenal in the heptathlon, totaling 3,950 points to place 4th overall in the event. The point total for Burr placed her 7th overall in New England, 63rd overall in the nation, and set a program record. Burr set a personal record in five of the seven events. In the 200 meter dash, Burr finished with a time of 27.48 seconds to set the program record.

Trussell finished 5th overall in the 110 meter hurdles, posting a time of 15.91 seconds in the finals of the event. In the preliminary heat, Trussell posted a time of 16.08 seconds and sat in 7th place. Trussell placed 29th overall in the 200 meters with a time of 24.00 seconds in a highly competitive field. 

Canwell placed inside the top-eight of both the shot put and the hammer throw. Canwell placed 6th overall in the shot put with an impressive throw measured at 14.15 meters on his second attempt. In the hammer, Canwell's 2nd attempt was measured at 49.06, the 8th best distance.
