Recap From Day Two of NCAA East Regional Championship

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their weekend at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship at Mount Holyoke College this afternoon. 

Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) and Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) each competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Castaldo placed an impressive time of 10:01.03 and Freeman posted a respectable time of 10:20.89. Castaldo placed 16th overall while Freeman placed 23rd.

In the high jump, Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine) placed 20th overall after crossing the 1.79 meter bar.

First-year Alex Crews (Winslow, Maine) competed in the shot put and posted a 16th place finish in the event. Crews's best attempt was measured at 12.81 meters in his 16th place effort.

The foursome of Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.), Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine), Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), and Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) set program history, placing 10th overall in the 4x100 meter relay. The group finished with a time of 51.16 seconds, setting a program record in the event and the highest relay finish in program history.
