Women’s Alpine Opens Season With 1st Place Finish at Sugarloaf

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine ski team opened their 2025 season with a dominant first-place finish in a Reynolds Division giant slalom event held Friday at Sugarloaf.

The Beavers placed four skiers in the top eight and finished with 11 place points to secure the victory. Saint Joseph's College of Maine came in second with 16 place points, New England College placed third with 32 place points, and Bowdoin College finished fourth with 45 place points.

Malin Alusic-Bingh of New England College claimed the individual victory, topping the field with a combined time of 1:38.59.

Beaver Skiers:

Junior Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) started her season on a strong note, placing second overall with a two-run time of 1:40.92. Caroselli clocked 47.35 seconds on her first run and 53.25 seconds on her second to secure the silver medal.

Sophomore Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.), the reigning first-place skier in the Reynolds Division from 2024, also landed on the podium, finishing third overall with a combined time of 1:41.13. Robb recorded a first-run time of 47.88 seconds and matched Caroselli's second-run time of 53.25 seconds.

First-year Rosie St. Cyr (Pownal, Maine) made an impressive collegiate debut with a sixth-place finish. St. Cyr posted a two-run time of 1:44.92, contributing as the third and final Beaver to the team's overall score. She clocked 50.11 seconds on her first run and 54.81 seconds on her second.

Senior Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) placed eighth overall, finishing with a total time of 1:47.16. Mahmood posted a first-run time of 50.36 seconds and a second-run time of 56.80 seconds.
