CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington golf team couldn't get much going on Tuesday at the SMCC Shootout, held at Purpoodock Club, finishing sixth out of six competing teams. The Beavers posted a team score of 379 (+95).
Husson University topped the field with a 303 (+19), four strokes better than runner-up Southern Maine Community College (+23). The University of New England placed third (316, +32), the University of Southern Maine took fourth (318, +34), and Saint Joseph's College of Maine came in fifth (336, +52).
Husson's Ty Dickson earned medalist honors with a one-over-par 72.
Beaver Golfers
The Beavers were led by
Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) in his return to the lineup. Boinske placed 27th overall, carding a 92 (+21) with a 43 on the front nine and a 49 on the back.
Sophomore
Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine) finished one stroke behind Boinske in 28th place, shooting a 93 (+22) with a 42 on the front and a 51 on the back.
Fellow sophomore
Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine) placed 30th with a 96 (+25), recording a 50 on the front nine and a 46 on the back.
Joseph Wellman-Clouse was the fourth Beaver to contribute to the team score, finishing 31st with a 98 (+27). He shot a 45 on the front and a 53 on the back.
Junior
Chase Raven (Hudson, Wis.) rounded out the lineup in the five-spot, carding a 109 (+38) to finish 32nd.
Up Next
The Beavers return to action on Sunday at the Husky Classic, hosted at Riverside Golf Course. The event will serve as their final tune-up before the North Atlantic Conference Championship, which begins October 11.
