FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team was recognized among the nation's top academic programs, earning a spot on the 2024–25 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Beavers ranked 25th in NCAA Division III with an impressive cumulative team GPA of 3.716.
This marks the program's first appearance on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll since the 2019–20 season, when Farmington was ranked 20th nationally. The award honors women's basketball programs across all collegiate divisions that achieved the highest combined GPAs, calculated from all student-athletes on their rosters for the full academic year. The 2024–25 season marks the 30th year of the WBCA's Academic Top 25 recognition.
In total, the WBCA honored the top 25 academic programs from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA. Additionally, the top 19 programs from two-year colleges were recognized, as only 19 met the nomination criteria.
On the court, Farmington posted an 11-14 overall record and a 7-6 mark in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play, earning a return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021–22 season. The Beavers are set to return all but one player from last year's roster and will look to build on that momentum heading into the 2025–26 campaign.
