Dow Named to All-State Second Team, Pingree Received All-State Rookie Team Honors

FARMINGTON, Maine - On Thursday afternoon, March 20th,  the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA)  announced their postseason award winners for the 2024-25 season. The University of Maine at Farmington had two honorees as sophomore forward Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine) was named to the All-State Second Team while first-year guard Jaydn Pingree (Jay, Maine) was named to the All-State Rookie Team.

Pingree and Dow formed a dynamic one-two punch for the Beavers this season, finishing as the team's two leading scorers. Dow started in all 25 games this season for the Beavers, averaging 13.3 points while shooting 40.7% from the floor. Pingree came off the bench for the first 15 games of her career, before transitioning to a starting role down the stretch of the regular season. Pingree averaged 11.0 points per game, shooting 42.1% from the field.

Dow is a versatile player who impacts winning in different ways on both ends of the floor. Outside of her scoring prowess, Dow is a willing passer, an aggressive rebounder, and an instinctual defender. Dow led the Beavers in assists, blocks, and steals this season while also finishing second on the team in total rebounds. Dow averaged 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and over a block per game.

Pingree is a dynamic scorer who possesses the ability to score from several different areas on the court. Pingree is a strong guard who can take advantage of smaller matchups in the post, can beat her defender off the dribble to get to the rim, and has a ultra-smooth mid range jump shot. Pingree fit seamlessly into the Beavers offense. Pingree is also a willing rebounder, finishing third on the team this season averaging 4.6 per game.

The All-State awards for Pingree and Dow come weeks after each received North Atlantic Conference (NAC) postseason awards following their phenomenal seasons. Dow was named a Second Team All-Conference player while Pingree received the NAC Rookie of the Year honor as well as being named to the Third Team All-Conference.

In being named to the All-State Rookie Team, Pingree joins Dow as the first Beavers since McKenna Brodeur '21 was named an All-Rookie team member in 2018. Dow becomes the first player to be named to the All-State First or Second team since Brodeur received All-State Second Team honors following the 2019-20 season.
