Boinske Shoots Career-Low, 73 at Husson Invitational

BANGOR, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) had everything working on Saturday at the Husson Invitational, hosted at Bangor Municipal Golf Course. Boinske fired a career-best 73 (+2), leading the Beavers to a seventh-place team finish. UMF's top four scorers combined for a 41-over-par 325.

Alex Grant of the University of Southern Maine earned medalist honors with a four-under 67, helping the Huskies capture first place.

Beaver Golfers

Boinske opened his round with a birdie on the first hole and quickly found his rhythm. After a bogey on the second, his only blemish on the front nine, he carded birdies on the fourth, seventh, and eighth holes to make the turn at three-under 32. A triple bogey on the par-three 11th slowed his momentum, but he closed with a 41 on the back nine for a career-low 73, finishing tied for sixth overall.

First-year standout Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) also impressed, shooting a seven-over 78. Harvey was one-over on the front side, highlighted by a birdie on the ninth hole. On the back nine, he recorded a birdie along with three bogeys and two double bogeys, finishing with a 42. He placed tied for 20th in the 58-player field.

Fellow first-year Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine) posted the best round of his young career, carding a 12-over 83 to tie for 35th. Suitter notched nine pars—five on the front and four on the back—on his way to a 39 on the front and 44 on the back.

Sophomore Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine) rounded out UMF's scoring group with a 91 (+20). Despite a pair of tough holes, Beaudoin closed strong, making par on four of his final five holes.

Also competing for the Beavers was sophomore Joseph Wellman-Clouse, who finished with a 94 (+23).
