OAKLAND, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington golf team competed in the Colby Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Waterville Country Club. The tournament featured eight institutions: Colby, UMaine-Farmington, Southern Maine, Presque Isle, Saint Joseph's, Husson, Maine Maritime, and the University of New England.
Husson University captured the team title, with four of its five golfers placing in the top eight.
Beaver Golfers
UMF was without one of its top scorers,
Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine), who did not compete.
The Beavers were led by first-year
Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine), who tied for 12th overall. Playing in the top spot, Harvey carded an 82 (+12) with a 40 on the front nine and a 42 on the back. He opened his round with a birdie on the first hole, his lone birdie of the day.
First-year
Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine) stepped into the No. 2 spot in Boinske's absence. Suitter shot a 48 on the front nine before bouncing back with a 41 on the back to finish with an 89 (+19), placing 25th. He recorded one birdie, making a three on the par-four 14th.
Joseph Wellman-Clouse (Mount Desert, Maine), competing in the No. 5 slot, was UMF's third scorer. He posted matching 46s on the front and back for a 92 (+22).
Sophomore
Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine) rounded out the Beavers' scoring four with a 95 (+25), placing tied for 34th overall. Forrest shot a 50 on the front before rebounding with a 45 on the back.
The Beavers' four scoring golfers combined for a team score of 358.
Sophomore
Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine), playing in the No. 3 spot, finished with a 97 (+27) but did not factor into the team score.
