MANCHESTER, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington golf team placed seventh out of eight teams on Tuesday at the Mariner Invitational, hosted by Maine Maritime Academy at Augusta Country Club. The Beavers finished 68-over par, with their top four golfers combining for a team score of 348.
The University of Southern Maine claimed the top two individual spots, as Alex Grant finished two-under and Alex Fournier shot even par. Their performances helped lead the Huskies to the team title at six-over, finishing eight strokes ahead of Husson.
Beaver Golfers:
First-year Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) led UMaine-Farmington with a 12-over 82, placing 25th overall. Harvey tallied four pars on both the front and back nine, shooting 40 on the front and 42 on the back.
Fellow first-year Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine) finished five strokes behind Harvey in 32nd place with an 87 (+17). Suitter carded a birdie on the par-four ninth, shot 45 on the front nine, and followed with a 42 on the back, highlighted by four straight pars on holes 13–16.
Sophomore Joseph Wellman-Clouse (Mount Desert, Maine) delivered a steady round of 88 (+18), placing 34th overall. He shot 45 on the front nine and 43 on the back.
Sophomore Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine) rounded out UMF's scoring four, carding a 91 (+21) to finish 35th. He posted a 46 on the front and a 45 on the back.
Also competing for the Beavers was Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine), who shot a 103 (+33) but did not contribute to the team score.
