PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington golf team placed sixth out of six teams on Thursday afternoon at the UMPI Invitational, held at Presque Isle Country Club. The Beavers' four scoring golfers combined to shoot 350 (+62).
Maine Maritime Academy topped the leaderboard, finishing 25-over par (313). Individually, Nathan Baker of Maine Maritime earned medalist honors with a one-over 73, edging Ryan Lai of the University of Maine at Augusta by a single stroke.

Beaver Golfers:
First-year standout Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) led the Beavers, finishing fifth overall with a four-over 76. Harvey opened his round with a birdie and added birdies on the seventh and ninth holes to card a 37 on the front nine. On the back nine, he tallied six pars and three bogeys.
Following Harvey was fellow first-year Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine), who placed 24th with a 16-over 88. Suitter posted matching 44s on the front and back nines and carded one birdie for the round.
Sophomores Joseph Wellman-Clouse (Mount Desert, Maine) and Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine) rounded out the scoring for UMF, placing 27th and 30th respectively. Wellman-Clouse finished with a 92 (+20), including a birdie, shooting 43 on the front and 49 on the back. Beaudoin finished two strokes behind with a 94 (+22), carding 47 on both the front and back nines.
Sophomore Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine) also competed, placing 31st with a 95 (+23). As the fifth golfer, his score did not count toward the team result.
