Beavers Compete at USM Cup

PORTLAND, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team competed in the USM Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Golf Course alongside the University of Southern Maine, Saint Joseph's College, and the University of New England. Saturday's match was scheduled to be a Ryder Cup style event with golfers competing in groups of two, playing six holes of scramble format, six of best ball, and six of alternating shots. However, due to weather only 13 holes counted toward the teams overall scoring.

Today's event was not a team scoring event. Keenan Buteau and Quinn Dillon earned the group trophy, finishing two under-par.

Beaver Golfers

Farmington's twosomes were Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) and Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine), Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine) and Joseph Wellman-Clouse (Mount Desert, Maine), and Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) and Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine).

Harvey and Beaudoin placed 11th out of 15 teams, carding a three-over par through the 13 countable holes. The pair carded a pair of birdies, birding the par-four second hole and the par-five tenth hole.

Suitter and Wellman-Clouse finished one spot behind them in 12th place, finishing with a six-over par on their scorecard. The pair had one birdie and nine pars across the 13 holes. One tough hole that saw them shoot a five-over par, was the difference in their round.

Boinske and Forrest finished tied for 13th overall on the day, finishing seven-over par. The two sophomores did not record a birdie, carding two double bogeys and three bogeys to go along with eight pars.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday, September 13th when they play in the Husson Invitational at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
