WATERVILLE, Maine – For the seventh time this season, University of Maine at Farmington junior forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Week. Reynolds played a key role in helping the Beavers to a 2-1 week, highlighted by critical conference road victories over Husson and the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Reynolds recorded double-doubles in all three games last week, bringing his season total to 18 in 20 games.
In a hard-fought home loss against Bates on Tuesday, Reynolds finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bates did a strong job of limiting Reynolds' rebounding opportunities, but the junior would not be denied, recording double-digit rebounds for the 16th consecutive game at the time.
Reynolds posted his second 20-plus rebound performance of the season on Friday at Husson, hauling in a season-high 21 boards in 35 minutes. He made his presence felt on both ends of the floor, recording double-digit rebounds on both the offensive (10) and defensive glass (11). Reynolds also tallied 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting to help lift the Beavers to the victory.
Reynolds followed that performance by pulling down 11 more rebounds on Saturday to go along with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, extending his consecutive double-double streak to 16 games.
Through 20 games this season, Reynolds continues to lead the nation—regardless of class—in total rebounds (286), offensive rebounds (92), defensive rebounds (194), rebounds per game (14.3), and double-doubles (18).
