FARMINGTON, Maine - D3Hoops.com released the results of the 2026-27 men's basketball Top 25 Preseason Poll on Thursday afternoon, and the University of Maine at Farmington was listed in the Receiving Votes section, missing a spot in the top 25 by just one point.
After finishing the 2025-26 season with a 23-6 record, the best in program history, the defending North Atlantic Conference (NAC) champions return their top six players from last year's roster, including reigning NAC Player of the Year Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) and Co-Defensive Player of the Year Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine). McLaughlin averaged 25.8 points per game, the sixth-highest mark among Division III players in the country. Reynolds finished the season leading the nation in rebounding and double-doubles, averaging 15.5 rebounds per game and recording 26 double-doubles in 29 games.
As a team, Farmington averaged 86.8 points per game while shooting an impressive 46.3% from the field and 36.6% from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Beavers held their opponents to 74.9 points per game, 42.2% shooting from the floor, and 30.1% shooting from three-point range.
The Beavers will look to build on last season's success, when they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament by defeating 10th-ranked Montclair State in the opening round. The victory marked the second NCAA Tournament win in program history.
Farmington will open its 2026-27 season on the road on Saturday, November 7, against Suffolk University.
