FARMINGTON, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore guard Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) continues to dominate the state of Maine, earning his fourth Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week honor of the 2025-26 season.
McLaughlin and the Beavers went 2-0 last week while continuing to lead the NAC, improving their conference record to 14-1. He averaged 30.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 57.5 percent from the field.
In Friday's lopsided win over Lesley, McLaughlin poured in 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including a flawless 4-for-4 performance from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. After scoring six points in the first half, McLaughlin caught fire after the break, exploding for 19 second-half points while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field.
McLaughlin continued his scorching run Saturday, erupting for a career-best 35 points in a 95–83 victory over Thomas. He went 13-for-24 from the floor, knocked down three triples, and contributed two rebounds, two steals, and a block.
McLaughlin has delivered steady production all season for the Beavers, posting averages of 25.0 points per game on 46.7/39.2/77.3 shooting splits. With 525 points in 21 games, he currently sits atop the national leaderboard in total points for the 2025-26 campaign.
In total for the Beavers, Zach McLaughlin and junior forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) have combined for seven MMBCWA Player of the Week awards during the 2025–26 season.
