Women’s Track and Field Take 3rd at NAC Championship

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team compiled 84.5 points at the 2026 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship to place third overall. Thomas College took home the championship trophy, topping the field with 235.5 points.

Top Beaver Performances;

First-year Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) was crowned the conference champion in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:10.95 in the event. She added a fourth-place finish in the javelin, reaching 33.01 meters with her best attempt. Alexander also placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 19.39 seconds.

Fellow first-year Jenney Lutz (Lebanon, N.H.) had a strong day, earning 14 individual points as she scored in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400-meter hurdles. Lutz finished the 100 meters in 12.83 seconds to place second overall. She completed the 200 meters in 27.08 seconds en route to a third-place finish. In the 400-meter hurdles, Lutz placed fourth in 1:15.68.

Senior Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) scored in a pair of events, the triple jump and the pole vault. Johnson placed second in the triple jump, reaching 11.07 meters with her best attempt. She placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing 2.40 meters on her third attempt.

First-year Sadie Pierce (China, Maine) also competed in the pole vault and placed fifth overall, clearing 2.10 meters. Pierce also scored in the triple jump, placing sixth with a best jump of 10.45 meters.

Senior Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Md.) performed well in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing second overall. Poteet posted a time of 13:26.44 in her runner-up effort.

First-year Abbie Dumont (Windham, Maine) competed alongside Alexander and Lutz in the 400-meter hurdles, running to a third-place finish in 1:13.85. She also competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing sixth overall in 14:27.52.

Senior Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine) secured eight points across the 200 meters and the 400 meters. Todd finished the 200 meters in 28.41 seconds to place fifth overall. She finished the 400 meters in 1:04.44 to place third.

Sophomore Monica Lewis (Windham, Maine) scored one point, finishing sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:49.71.

First-year Ashley Roy (Turner, Maine) placed fifth in the javelin and sixth in the discus, securing three individual points. Roy's best throw in the javelin reached 31.81 meters. In the discus, her top mark was 28.84 meters.

Farmington's 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Lutz, Alexander, Todd, and Pierce, placed second overall with a time of 52.61 seconds.
