Beavers Sweep Hornets in Season Finale

Box Score

LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team closed out its 2026 season with a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep over Vermont State Lyndon on Sunday afternoon at Skip Pound Complex. The Beavers took game one, 6-1, before completing the sweep with a 9-5 win in game two.

Game One; Farmington 6 - Lyndon 1

Farmington grabbed an early lead in the opener and never looked back, backed by a complete-game performance on the mound from junior Brady Vincent (Auburn, Maine). The Beavers struck first in the top of the second inning. Jameson Bloch (Attleboro, Mass.) singled to left and later came around to score on an RBI single from Ben Mello (Gloucester, Mass.), giving Farmington a 1-0 lead.

UMF broke the game open in the third. Matt Marquis (Monmouth, Maine) and Ike Wrigley (Farmington, Maine) worked back-to-back walks to begin the inning before Tyler Rosa (Morgan Hill, Calif.) ripped a two-run single to center, scoring both Marquis and Wrigley to make it 3-0. Vincent followed with a single, and Bloch drew a walk to load the bases. Hayden Durrell (Madrid, Maine) reached on an error that brought Rosa home, and Mello later drove in Bloch on a fielder's choice to push the Beavers' lead to 5-0.

Lyndon scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run from Ryan Alt, but Vincent settled back in and kept the Hornets off the board the rest of the way. Farmington added an insurance run in the seventh after Rosa singled to right, advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches, and scored on an RBI single from Bloch.

Farmington completed the sweep in game two, using a five-run fifth inning to erase an early deficit and take control.

The Beavers jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first. Marquis was hit by a pitch to open the game, and Vincent followed two batters later with a two-run home run to give UMF a 2-0 advantage. Lyndon answered immediately with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Jeren Harrison doubled home the Hornets' first run, Tredell Blow followed with an RBI single, and Braeden Adams later delivered a two-run single to right field to give Lyndon a 4-2 lead.

Farmington got one run back in the second. Colby Lewis (Blue Hill, Maine) walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a single from Durrell, and scored on an RBI fielder's choice from Marquis to cut the deficit to 4-3. After Will Buchholz (Maynard, Mass.) entered in relief in the first inning, the Beavers' pitching staff settled in and kept Farmington within striking distance. Buchholz held the Hornets scoreless from the second through the sixth inning, allowing the Beavers' offense to rally.

UMF took the lead for good in the fifth. Vincent singled and Bloch walked to put two runners on before Andrew Skory (Peabody, Mass.) came through with a pinch-hit single to load the bases. Lucas Harmon (Monmouth, Maine) drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 4-4. Durrell followed with a sacrifice bunt that resulted in a Lyndon error, allowing Bloch to score the go-ahead run. Sam Parsell (Newington, Conn.) added an RBI groundout, Wrigley worked a bases-loaded walk, and Durrell later scored on a wild pitch to give Farmington an 8-4 lead. The Beavers added another run in the seventh when Durrell reached on an error, moved to second on a groundout, and scored on an RBI single from Wrigley.
