SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team ran to a seventh-place finish on Saturday evening in the 3.34K NCAA East Regional Preview Meet at the Wainwright Sports Complex. Farmington's top-five finishers combined for a total time of 1:12:42.
Bowdoin College claimed the top spot with a total time of 1:01:58.
Beaver Runners:
Farmington was led by reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Runner of the Year Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine), who earned 13th place overall after posting an impressive time of 12:43.8. Martinez Nocito finished with an average mile time of 6:08.0.
First-year Amelia Hill (Jaffrey, N.H.) made her collegiate debut and impressed with a 40th-place finish amongst the competitive field. Hill finished with a total time of 13:26.2 and an average mile time of 6:28.4.
Fellow first-year Annabelle Hanscom (Oakland, Maine) was the third Beaver across the finish line, posting a time of 15:05.2 in the event. Hanscom averaged a time of 7:16.1 per mile.
Sophomore Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) competed in her first collegiate cross country event on Saturday and ran to a 77th-place finish in 15:24.8. Alexander posted an average mile time of 7:25.6.
Senior Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) was the fifth Beaver to contribute to the team's total time, finishing in 89th place with a total time of 16:02.7. MacDonald ran to an average mile time of 7:43.8.
