Field hockey heads to NAC final

FARMINGTON -- Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) and Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) each scored a goal as the top-seeded University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team blanked No. 4 Lasell 2-0 in North Atlantic Conference semifinal action on Tuesday at Prescott Field.

The Beavers ran their record to 12-5 and are scheduled to host No. 2 Husson (12-4) in the NAC title game on Saturday. Game time is to be announced. The Lasers closed out their season at 8-11.

Farmington struck first at 24:48 when Wentworth converted a feed by Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME) for a 1-0 lead at intermission. Deans gave the Beavers an insurance marker at 57:38 with an unassisted score for a 2-0 win.

Kaeleigh Barker (Chichester, NH) recorded one save in registering her seventh shutout of the season. The Beavers held a 22-3 advantage in shots and were awarded 14 penalty corners to none for Lasell.

Laura Gallagher (Westwood, MA) made 15 saves for the Lasers.
