FARMINGTON, Maine — University of Maine at Farmington field hockey players Autumn Freeman (Byron, Maine) and Ashley Merchant (Lebanon, Maine) received Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (CMCFHC) Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Freeman was named Player of the Week, while Merchant received Rookie of the Week honors.

The Beavers played one game last week, shutting out Regis College, 4-0, to earn their third victory of the season. Both Freeman and Merchant played key roles in the victory, as Freeman recorded two goals and an assist while Merchant contributed an assist.

Freeman scored the game's opening goal, receiving a pass from Merchant off a penalty corner before firing a slap shot into the back of the cage with just three seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Freeman's second goal came midway through the second quarter when she once again converted on a penalty corner opportunity to extend Farmington's lead to 2-0.

Freeman recorded her assist on another penalty corner opportunity, sending a shot on target that was redirected by Elyse Nadeau (Glenburn, Maine) into the cage to make it a 4-0 game.

The Player of the Week honor is the first of Freeman's collegiate career, while Merchant earned her second Rookie of the Week award of the season.
