FARMINGTON -- Amanda Fortin (Jefferson, ME) notched a hat trick and Rebecca Roy (Skowhegan, ME) and Samantha Kenison (Gorham, NH) each tallied two goals in leading the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team's 9-0 trouncing of North Atlantic Conference foe Elms College at Prescott Field on Saturday.
The Beavers ran their record to 5-3 and 3-1 in NAC play, while the Blazers slipped to 2-10 (1-4). UMF is scheduled to host Lasell College on Sunday at 11 a.m. Elms is scheduled to visit Lasell on Wednesday.
UMF built a 3-0 lead at intermission, but scored twice in the first 3:06 of the second half and padded the advantage throughout the frame. Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) finished with a goal and an assist with Erika Lucas (Augusta, ME) chipping in a goal and Kristin Chambers (Gorham, ME), Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME), Nicole Lyons (Cape Elizabeth, ME), Hattie Agnew (Guilford, ME) and Renee Trafton (Corinth, ME) each assisting on a score.
Kaeleigh Barker (Chicester, NH) and Sarah Brown (Windham, ME) split time in goal for the Beavers, who held a 48-2 command in shots and an 18-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) and Jillian Burrows (Pembroke, MA) shared netminding duties for the Blazers. Wasgatt finished with 13 saves and Burrows had a pair.
