Box Score 2 BANGOR -- The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team fell 2-1 in the first game, but earned a split with a 2-0 victory in the second contest in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader today at Husson College.
The Beavers stand at 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the NAC. Farmington is scheduled to visit Bates College for a single game on Thursday at 2 p.m. Husson is 9-18 (2-4).
In the second contest, Dan Hemdal (Nashua, NH) tossed six innings of two-hit ball in the win with Brian Morrison (Saco, ME) notching a save by closing out the shutout. Hemdal struck out six and walked six.
Tyler Hanson (Sanford, ME) doubled in a run for the Beavers, while Josh Garneau (South Portland, ME) supplied a sacrifice fly. Hanson and Corey Provencher (Rumford, ME) each singled and doubled.
In the opener, Craig Pendleton (Saco, ME) took the tough loss with a six-hit complete game, including a walk and five strikeouts.
The Beavers were held to four hits in the first game with Provencher, Phineas Peake (Penobscot, ME), Russ Schmelzer (Winthrop, ME) and Dan Stefanilo (Sanford, ME) each collecting a single. Stefanilo drove in the lone Farmington run.
