The Beavers (5-20) are scheduled to host Bates College on Tuesday with a doubleheader tabbed for a 2 p.m. start. The Hornets improved to 13-11.
In the opener, a grand slam by Michael Swan (Southington, CT) highlighted a nine-run fifth inning by the Hornets and Lyndon State rallied for the victory.
The Beavers had built a 6-1 advantage after three frames with Mike Cummons (Lincolnville, ME) rapping two singles with an RBI and Kyle Shea (Bar Harbor, ME) recording an RBI single, but could not come back from Lyndon State's rally.
Pat Howell (Nobleboro, ME) took the loss for Farmington. Howell allowed six hits and walked four with five strikeouts, but only three of the nine runs he was charged with were earned. Will Griffiths (Mechanic Falls, ME) pitched 2.1 innings of relief with two hits allowed and a strikeout.
Jake Ainsworth (Fairfax, VT) and Rob Malloy (Burlington, VT) each rapped a pair of singles for Lyndon State.
Jesse Ballard (Alburgh, VT) hurled a complete game for the win with seven hits allowed, two walks and a strikeout.
With the second game knotted at 3-3 entering the seventh, Lyndon State struck for three runs in the top of the frame to take the win. Swan again got the big hit with a two-run double to help the Hornets to victory.
Shea singled three times and plated two runs for the Beavers, while Corey Provencher (Rumford, ME) singled twice and Tyler Hanson (Sanford, ME) had an RBI double.
Bill Ridge (South Portland, ME) went 6.2 innings, allowed 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout in the loss. Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) got the final out.
Swan also had a pair of singles to go along with his double. Ben Clark (Brattleboro, VT) clubbed a two-run home run in the win.
Jordan Royer (Lyndonville, VT) threw a complete game for the victory with seven hits allowed, a walk and two strikeouts.
