Box Score NEWTON, Mass. -- Emma Deans (Gorham, Maine) scored with five minutes left in the second overtime to propel the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team to a 3-2 North Atlantic Conference win over Lasell College this afternoon.
The Beavers (7-1 overall, 2-0 in the NAC) hope to continue their best start since 2006 (10-1) at Simmons College on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Lasers slipped to 4-6 (0-3).
Farmington fell behind 1-0 on a Natasha Wood's score 7:37 into the contest and Lasell carried the advantage into intermission.
Sara Lane (Hiram, Maine) scored twice in less than a two-minute span to put the Beavers ahead in the second half. Following an unassisted tally, Lane knocked in a Hattie Laliberte (Guilford, Maine) pass at 52:11 for a 2-1 lead.
Alicia Chapdelaine knotted the score at 2-2 at 58:48 when she scored off a Tia Pratt feed.
After being outshot 6-4 in the first extra session, the Beavers took all five of the shots in the second overtime before Deans registered the game-winner for a 3-2 final.
Sarah Brown (Windham, Maine) guarded the cage for the Beavers with 13 saves. Farmington was outshot 19-16 in the contest.
Christine Thornton stopped nine shots for the Lasers.
