Box Score FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team dropped to 8-3 overall (3-1 in the conference) with a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph's College in North Atlantic Conference action today.
The Beavers are scheduled to play at the University of New England on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Monks improved to 7-3 (4-0 in the NAC).
Saint Joseph's reached the scoreboard first at 19:14 in the first half when Courtney Rague (Old Orchard Beach, ME) scored an unassisted goal giving the Monks a 1-0 lead. The Beavers tied the score at the 28:36 mark of the first half when Lily Barry (Hermon, ME) found the net with an assist from Jessica Martin ( Winthrop, ME). Saint Joseph's ended the first half with a 2-1 advantage thanks to an Alyssa Dunn (Standish, ME) goal scored with 4:48 left.
At the end of the first half the Beavers trailed 2-1. St. Joes recorded 6 shots on goal while UMF trailed 3.
Three minutes into the second half St. Joseph's Sarah Bartell (Exeter, NH) scored with an assist from teammate Courtney Rague (Old Orchard Beach, ME) off a penalty corner, giving the Monks a 3-1 lead. UMF's Samantha Webster (Dixfield, ME) scored at the 61:06 mark off a penalty corner. UMF was unable to find the net again
Sarah Brown (Windham, ME) made 4 saves in the loss for the Beavers, while St. Joseph's Meagan Johnson (Portland, ME) tallied 1.
