WATERVILLE -- The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team stopped a 14-game skid with a 5-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference win over afternoon.
The Terriers managed salvage a split with a 15-13 win in the nightcap.
Farmington (1-15 overall, 1-9 in NEAC East) is scheduled to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle Thursday for a single game. First pitch is tabbed for 2 p.m. Thomas stands at 8-13 (2-4)
In game one, Bill Ridge (South Portland, ME) hurled a complete game as the Beavers scored five runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 win.
Ridge scattered eight hits with three strikeouts in grabbing the victory.
Brian Morrison (Saco, ME) and Kyle Shea (Bar Harbor, ME) each clubbed an RBI double in the five-run frame. Josh Garneau (South Portland, ME), Matt Judkins (Thomaston, ME) and Matt Levine (Pelham, NH) each had a hit in the win.
Chris Farrar took the loss for Thomas with two walks and four strikeouts in a complete game.
Tim Nickerson singled and doubled forr the Terriers, while Ben Goodall singled twice and Tim Costa had an RBI single.
In game two, Thomas scored four runs in the sixth to snatch a 15-13 win from the Beavers.
The Terriers led 7-2 after the first two innings, but Farmington scored six times in the third to take an 8-7 edge and set off a see-saw affair. The Beavers led 15-11 after five-and-a-half frames, but two runs on an error and Mike Busa's two-run single in the sixth gave Thomas the 15-13 win.
Garneau singled and homered, Connor McNeill (Portland, ME) singled twice and tripled and Brian Jenkins (Gorham, ME) singled, doubled and drove in three runs as the Beavers banged out 17 hits.
Taylor Livingston singled twice and doubled twice with two RBI and Tom Desjardins smacked a three-run homer to lead the Terriers with
Will Griffiths (Mechanic Falls, ME) did not record an out in earning the loss for Farmington.
Bejay Perkins notched win with a strikeout in 1.2 innings of relief, while Cory Estes recorded the save.
