Box Score 2 FARMINGTON -- The Bates College baseball ran its school-record win total to 22 as the Bobcats dispatched the University of Maine at Farmington 12-4, 6-4 in the Beavers' final regular-season games at Hippach Field today.
Farmington finished its season at 5-22. Bates (22-8), winner of eight straight, is scheduled to visit Bowdoin College for a single game on Friday.
In the opener, Chris Burke (Andover, MA) and Noah Lynd (Meriden, NH) each homered as the Bobcats scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a 12-4 win.
Burke went 4 for 5 with a double, three runs scored and four RBI, while Tom Beaton (West Newbury, MA) added three singles and a double as the Bobcats pounded out 14 hits. The Beavers pulled to 8-4 in the fifth, but a solo homer from Jake Simon (Waterford, CT) highlighted a three-run sixth for Bates to pull away for the 12-4 win.
Phineas Peake (Penobscot, ME), Brian Jenkins (Gorham, ME) and Matt Judkins (Thomaston, ME) each rapped a pair of singles and Kyle Shea (Bar Harbor, ME) clubbed a two-run home run in the loss.
Pat Siebenlist (Gaithersburg, MD) notched the win with 3.2 innings of relief for the Bobcats. Siebenlist allowed five hits and walked a batter.
Bill Ridge (South Portland, ME) gave up 12 hits in 5.2 innings in the loss. Ridge walked three.
In game two, Lynd slammed a two-run blast in the seventh to power the Bobcats by the Beavers 6-4.
Farmington scored three times on two hits and two errors in the first and maintained the lead throughout the game until a sacrifice fly by Bates' Josh Linscott (Portland, ME) scored Noah Burke (Appleton, ME) in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4. After Chris Burke reached on an error in the seventh, Lynd followed with his homer for the 6-4 victory.
Noah Burke and Gordy Webb (Hampden, ME) each singled and doubled for Bates with Lynd also singling and Rich Velotta (Fairfield, CT) pitching in two singles.
Matt Levine (Pelham, NH) singled, doubled and drove in a run for Farmington with Jenkins slugging a solo homer and Peake contributing two singles.
Ryan Heide (Medfield, MA) worked two innings with a hit and a strikeout to collect the win.
Casey Ashey (Searsport, ME) pitched two innings of relief in the loss with three hits allowed. Ashey also had two strikeouts.
