Box Score FARMINGTON -- Hattie Laliberte (Guilford, Maine) tallied two goals to help the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over University of Southern Maine today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (2-0) are scheduled to host Mercy College Saturday at 11 a.m. The Huskies (2-4) are slated to host Western Connecticut Saturday at noon.
Farmington's home opener did not start well for the hosts as the Huskies' Ariel Kaplan (South Berwick, Maine) collected her first collegiate goal 20:38 into the contest. USM's Joanna Gaube (Woodstock, Conn.) started the scoring play with a shot that Farmington goalkeeper Sarah Brown (Windham, Maine) booted away, but Kaplan cashed in a feed by Whitney McDaniel (Livermore, Maine) for the 1-0 lead for the visitors.
Laliberte tied the game at 30:52 when the senior finished off a long carry for an unassisted score.
Farmington took the 2-1 lead at 50:13 when Laliberte finished off a touch by Jessica Martin (Winthrop, Maine). The play was started on a long hit by Emma Deans (Gorham, Maine).
The Beavers survived four penalty corners, including a shot by Kailey Bubier (Auburn, Maine), at the end of regulation to hold on for the 2-1 win.
Brown made five saves for the Beavers, who outshot the Huskies 11-9, but had to face 12 USM corners to their seven.
USM's Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine) recorded two saves in the loss.
