Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- Donike Ferriera (Montego Bay, Jamaica) collected a hat trick as the University of Maine at Fort Kent rolled past the University of Maine at Farmington 5-1 in non-conference women's soccer action today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (4-8-3) are scheduled to face Husson University for a North Atlantic Conference match Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Bangor. The Bengals remained unbeaten at 12-0-1 with a trip to SUNY-Canton next weekend.
Following Ferriera, Whitney Sinclair (Dexter, Maine) supplied the Bengals' other two scores and assisted on Ferriera's opening goal. Jenn Colpitts (Scarborough, Maine) also had an assist in the win.
After Ferriera scored at 13:08 to give UMFK a 1-0 edge, Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine) evened the score for UMF at 30:26. Katie Emmons (South Berwick, Maine) fired a shot from 25 yards out, which blasted off the post to Peake. The junior deposited the rebound for a 1-1 stalemate.
The Beavers enjoyed the next best scoring chance moments later with Alexandra Crocker (Glenburn, Maine) was robbed of a goal by a defensive play from Colpitts.
Sinclair broke the tie with an unassisted tally at 37:19 and Ferriera scored off a corner kick 34 seconds before the break for a 3-1 lead for the Bengals at intermission.
Ferriera and Sinclair each netted another score in the second half as UMFK left Prescott Field with the 5-1 victory.
Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine) recorded nine saves for UMF, which was outshot 25-14.
Sydney Proctor (Saco, Maine) made five saves for the Bengals.
