Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine -- Kaitlyn Bullen (Farmington, Maine) and Kashley Weymouth (Pittston, Maine) each tallied a first-half goal as the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team took a 2-1 win over Thomas College in non-conference action this afternoon.
The Beavers (8-6) are tabbed to visit North Atlantic Conference foe New England College in its regular-season finale Saturday at 5 p.m. The Terriers slipped to 5-11.
Weymouth put the Beavers on the scoreboard first when she tallied a breakaway goal at the 5:44 mark. Twenty minutes later, Bullen put in the eventual game-winning goal for the Beavers.
The Terriers got on the scoreboard at the 58:38 mark when Alei Collier scored her first career goal on a scramble in front of the UMF goal. The Terriers fought to tie the game with 11 second half shots, but they were unable to get past the Beavers defense and first year goalkeeper Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y.).
The Beavers held the advantage on shots with 23-20 and the Terriers took the advantage on penalty corners with 14-9.
Brierley recorded 8 saves and the win for the Beavers.
Jasmine Bishop recorded 11 saves for the Terriers in the loss.
