Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. -- The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team closed out its regular season with a 2-0 loss to New England College in North Atlantic Conference action this evening.
The loss dropped the Beavers to 8-7 on the season and 6-3 in NAC play, while the Pilgrims improve to 9-8 overall and 7-2 in the NAC. Both teams await the NAC postseason seedings.
The two teams battled through the opening half scoreless as the Pilgrims would hold the 8-3 advantage in shots.
NEC came out of halftime on fire as graduate student Emily Kuchta (Norwalk, Conn.) would net her 11th goal of the season putting in a loose ball in front of the net just 40 seconds into the second half.
NEC's Rachel Carnaroli (Bellingham, Mass.) would give the Pilgrims some breathing room in the 68th minute of play as she would record her fourth goal of the season assisted by Jen Adams (Brimfield, Mass.).
NEC finished the game outshooting UMF 16-5. Leading the way for the Beavers was
Lily Barry (Hermon, Maine) and
Kaitlyn Bullen (Farmington, Maine) who each recorded two shots on net.
Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) finished with four saves for NEC.
