Box Score STANDISH -- St. Joseph's College pushed across a run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Monks to a 3-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in non-conference action at Larry Mahaney Diamond this afternoon.
The Beavers (0-9) are scheduled to host Thomas College in their North Eastern Athletic Conference opening doubleheader on April 7. The twinbill is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
Todd Keneborous singled home Dan Achorn in the 11th inning to give St. Joseph's the win.
Russ Schmelzer (Winthrop, Maine) singled twice in the loss, while Josh Garneau (South Portland, Maine) and Ian McAlister (South Berwick, Maine) each smacked a double. Jack MacVane (Mechanic Falls, Maine) scampered home on a passed ball in the second for the Beavers' first run, while Matt Levine (Pelham, N.H.) singled to score Garneau in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.
Brandon Gallagher (North Yarmouth, Maine) was handed the loss. After recording two outs with the bases loaded in the ninth to send the game to extra innings, Gallagher finished with 2.1 innings pitched, two hits, a walk and two strikeouts. Dale Winchenbach (Waldoboro, Maine) started and went 8.1 innings with six hits allowed, four walks and four strikeouts.
Joe Davis singled twice for the Monks, while Brandon Chase clubbed a solo home run.
Jimmy Kennedy hurled two innings of one-hit relief in the win.
