Box Score BANGOR -- Fourth-seeded University of Maine at Farmington was eliminated from the North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division Baseball Championship Round this morning as the Beavers lost to No. 3 Thomas College 11-6 at Husson University's Winkin Complex.
The Beavers completed their season at 5-26, while the Terriers improved to 13-25.
Thomas exploded in the top of the second inning for five runs in large part due to doubles by Cody Vigue, John Charves and Ben Goodall to push the score to 10-0. UMF scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off RBIs by Josh Garneau (South Portland, Maine) and Matt Levine (Pelham, N.H.) to trail the Terriers 12-2. The Beavers scored an additional two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jack MacVane (Mechanic Falls, Maine) hit an RBI single to left field and Brian Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) reached on a fielder's choice and pushed Levine across the plate.
For their efforts in the tournament, Garnesau and MacVane received NAC All-Tournament Team distinction.
Thomas scored their final run of the game in the top of the seventh inning due to an RBI single to left field by Jeff Richardson. The Beavers notched runs in the seventh and eighth innings but could not overcome the Thomas lead and lost 11-6. The Terriers were led by Goodall with three runs scored and one RBI.
Garneau led the Beavers, hitting 2-5 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Eric Sucy received the win for his eight innings of work that included four strikeouts and eight hits, while allowing six runs.
Brandon Gallagher (North Yarmouth, Maine) shouldered the loss with 3.1 innings that included three strikeouts and 10 hits.
