Premo lifts Thomas to double OT win over UMF field hockey

FARMINGTON, Maine – Thomas College forward Brittany Premo scored with 7:49 remaining in the second overtime period to lead the Terriers to a 2-1 win over the University of Maine at Farmington, in field hockey Wednesday at UMF's Prescott Field.

Premo took advantage of a loose ball in front of the UMaine-Farmington cage following a Terrier penalty corner. With the Beavers unable to successfully clear the ball, Premo put a shot from the left side into the far corner of the UMF cage to end the game.

After UMaine-Farmington (6-7) jumped out to 1-0 lead with 13:15 remaining in the first half, Premo also scored the equalizer for Thomas with 10:49 left in the opening stanza.

The Beavers' goal was scored by senior Emma Daniel (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough), who found of the back of the cage on a long shot off a pass from Lily Barry (Hermon, Maine/Hermon).

UMaine-Farmington outshot Thomas, 15-8, and had a commanding 21-7 advantage in penalty corners. Terrier goalie Sofia Sourgiadakis was credited with eight saves for Thomas, while UMF's Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) notched two saves.

UMaine-Farmington closes out the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 21, when it hosts New England College at 12:00 p.m. at Prescott Field.  Thomas wraps up its regular season on Sunday when it hosts Rivier College.
