Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Four different University of Maine at Farmington field hockey players logged the Beavers' four goals as UMF cruised to a 4-1 win over Husson University, in a North Atlantic Conference matchup Saturday at Prescott Field.
UMaine-Farmington improved to 4-5 overall, 4-1 in the North Atlantic Conference with the win. Husson dropped its first conference game of the season, falling to 5-1 in the NAC and 7-7 overall.
Senior Annie Agnew scored just over 10 minutes into the game off an assist by Kaitlyn Bullen. Fellow senior Lily Barry put the Beavers up 2-0 just 25 seconds later when she deflected a shot from Kashley Weymouth past Husson goalie Maicee Gustin.
Husson's Sabrina Vallancourt got the Eagles on the scoreboard with just 2:13 remaining in the first half, redirecting a shot by Melissa Souza to make the score 2-1 at the break.
The Beavers doubled down their lead over Husson in the second half, scoring twice more. Bullen picked up goal to go with her first half assist, beating Gustin on a shot just under three minutes into the second half. Agnew was credited with an assist.
Weymouth notched an unassisted goal with 8:44 showing on the scoreboard, to cap the scoring.
UMF goalie Felisha Taylor recorded three saves on the day, while Gustin was credited with six. Farmington outshot Husson 15-7, but Husson held a 13-10 advantage in penalty corners. A strong defensive effort by the UMF backline helped keep the Eagles at bay, with Renee Despres logging a defensive save.
UMaine-Farmington returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 11, when it hosts Saint Joseph's College. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
