Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FARMINGTON, Maine - After winning the opener 10-2, Lily Barry (Hermon, Maine) hit for the cycle in the second game as the Beavers completed the doubleheader sweep 11-3 over Lyndon State College to open North Atlantic Conference play this afternoon.

Both games were called after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

The Beavers (4-4, 2-0) are scheduled to visit Thomas College Wednesday for a NAC twinbill starting at 3:30 p.m. The Hornets (6-10, 0-2) travel to Becker College Tuesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.

In the opener, Kaitlyn Bartlett (Chesterville, Maine), Amy Jones (Augusta, Maine) and Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) each homered as the Beavers breezed by Lyndon 10-2.

Bartlett and Casey Mull (Portland, Maine) each went 3 for 3 in the contest. UMF led 5-2 after three innings, but Jones cranked a solo home run and Mitchell followed with a two-run blast as the hosts put up five runs in the fourth to put the game away.

Emma Vaillancourt (Saco, Maine) grabbed the win, tossing an abbreviated three-hitter with a hit batter, two walks and five punchouts.

Jena Finnegan (Keeseville, N.Y.) clubbed an RBI triple for Lyndon, which scored both of its runs in the third.

Katie Davis (North Haverhill, N.H.) took the loss with 10 hits allowed, four walks and two strikeouts.

In the second game, Barry's single-double-triple-homer performance was part of a 16-hit attack for the Beavers in an 11-3 win.

Down 7-0, the Hornets scored three times in the top of the fifth to get back into the game, but the Beavers strung together six straight hits to plate four runs and close out the win.

Jones and Mitchell each rapped three hits with three RBI in the nightcap with Michelle Cote (Arundel, Maine) smacking a pair of singles.

Bartlett notched the win with four hits allowed, a hit batter, two walks and eight strikeouts.

Jen Lynch (Portland, Maine) singled twice and drove in two runs for Lyndon, while Julia McNeil Lowell, Mass.)  had an RBI double.
