Cummings, Colby wallop Beavers

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colin Cummings ripped two-run homer among his three hits, scored four times, and drove in four runs as the Colby College baseball team took a 19-3 win over University of Maine at Farmington in non-conference play today at Coombs Field.

The Beavers (6-22) are scheduled to visit Lyndon State College on Thursday for a 2 p.m. North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division doubleheader with the Hornets. The Mules improved to 12-12.
The Mules improve to 12-12 overall, while Maine-Farmington falls to 6-22.
 
Brandon Nieuw added three hits and four runs for the Mules, while center fielder Luke Duncklee had three hits, three runs, and one RBI. Robb Arndt added one hit, one run, and two RBI for the winners. Mike Mastrocola had a two-run single and a sacrifice fly for his three RBI. Ray Zeek added an RBI double, two runs, and two RBI.
 
Colby starting pitcher Luke Geoghegan tossed a no-hitter in his five innings of work, allowing just two hit batters to reach base to earn the win.
 
Colin Mello (Windham, Maine) had one hit, one run, and one RBI for UMF. Ben Yarian (South Berwick, Maine) and Joe Sullivan (Lewiston, Maine) both had one hit and one run.
