Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The UMaine-Farmington field hockey team (6-4) was shutout, 4-0, by Husson Saturday afternoon in a battle of the top two teams in the North Atlantic Conference standings.
Husson took the lead late in the first half after the goal by Elizabeth Terry in the 19th minute after the assist from Olivia Plaisted. The Eagles took advantage of a corner opportunity and the Eagles passed through the Beaver defense and Terry fired a shot past UMF goalie Patty Smith.
The Eagles extended the lead when Melissa Souza gave Husson the, 2-0 edge. Like the first goal, the Eagles converted on a penalty corner. Mikayla Toth passed left to Souza who tapped in her third goal of the season.
Husson added another goal in late in the second half when Sarah Eastman scored in the 63rd minute, off an assist from Taylor Lovley.
Lovley added a goal of her own when the sophomore sent her six goal of the season into the back of the cage.
Patty Smith had a busy day with 10 saves for UMF. Kaitlin Dolloff earns the victory for Husson and saved the only shot on goal sent her way.
UMaine-Farmington travels to New England College next Saturday afternoon for a 5:00pm game.
