Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The UMaine-Farmington field hockey team (6-3) won their third straight game with a 5-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field.
Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) battle was between the top two teams on a wet and drizzly playing field.
The Beavers did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard as the reigning NAC Rookie of the Week, Carly Raymond, scored her team leading eight goal off an assist from Delainey Kein 2:46 into the game. Balboni sent a cross through the Chargers' defense and Kein trapped the pass and knocked it into the back of the cage.
The score remained 1-0 going into intermissions. The rain may have let up to begin the second half, but the UMF offense did not as the Beavers scored four second-half goals.
Freshman Sarita Crandall increased the UMF lead with a goal in the 37th minute to give the Beavers the 2-0 edge. Rebecca Young got in the mix 1:26 later when she scored her third goal of the season.
Mara Balboni added her fifth goal of the season in the 46th minute after getting the dish from Chelsea Morely. Morley sent a pass through the Chargers' defense that was deflected to Young, who tapped in the scoring chance.
Andrea Beaulieu scored the fifth and final goal of the game in the 48th minute. The Beavers have scored five or more goals in five of the team's nine games so far this season.
UMaine-Farmington will host conference rival Husson next Saturday, October 11th at 12:00pm.
