Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team defeated Green Mountain College 137-70—just 19 points short of the Most Points Scored in a Game record in UMF men's basketball history—in North Atlantic Conference play on Friday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.
UMaine-Farmington improved its overall record to 10-12 and its NAC record to 8-7 with the win; Green Mountain fell to 4-16 overall, 3-13 in the NAC.
With six different players tallying double-digit points, seniors Ben Johnson and Andrew Dickey led the Beavers in shooting with 17 points each. Johnson was 7-of-8 from the field, three of which were slam dunks. Dickey shot 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, and he also grabbed a team-high 7 boards in the win.
Senior Garrett Clemmer and sophomore Nick Hilton both finished with 16 points, and senior Pet Sumner netted 15 points. Sophomore Justin Meader tallied 12 points, who had a hot three-point shooting hand in the second half.
Robert Holloway led the Eagles in points with 10, while Caleb Rogers finished with 9 points. Both Javier Lugris and DaSean Mundell posted 8 points, and Brian Bunn had a team-high 7 rebounds.
The Beavers were heating up from behind the arc in the first half, making 9 of their 16 attempts. Although their three-point shooting cooled off a bit in the second half, making 5-of-12, their shooting percentage from the field improved from 62.8% in the first to 66.7% in the second.
Down 69-30 at the half, Green Mountain would continue to put up a fight until the final buzzer. The Eagles shot 32.9% from the field in the second half, which was better than their 31.6% in the first, but the UMaine-Farmington Beavers' shooting just wouldn't quit.
Green Mountain College will play at Thomas College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., while UMaine-Farmington will host its second-to-last regular season home game against Castleton State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
