WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team opened its 2014 season with a pair of key North Atlantic Conference victories in a 3-2 and 4-0 sweep of Colby-Sawyer College, Friday afternoon at Polk State College Baseball Field.

The wins give UMaine-Farmington a 2-0 start to the season for the first time since 2002, when the Beavers opened with a pair of wins over Fisher College.

Colby-Sawyer fell to 3-8 overall with the losses, 0-2 in the NAC, in the Chargers' final two games of the Russmatt Central Florida Tournament before returning to New England.

Sophomore Dustin McCrossin plated sophomore Ben Keene on a one-out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win in game one.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the home half of the seventh, sophomore Sean Cabaniss led off the inning with a single back to the pitcher. He was bunted around on fielder's choice sacrifices to load up the bases, as the Chargers tried unsuccessfully to get the speedy Cabaniss on each bunt.

Cabaniss crossed on Tom Grady's fielder's choice grounder to second to tie the game at 2-2, and two batters later McCrossin lifted Farmington to the win with his single.

Sophomore Kyle Peterson scattered two hits and struck out four while allowing one earned run in the complete game win. Cabaniss and Keene each had two hits in the win.

Colby-Sawyer ace Kevin Keith, the 2013 NAC Pitcher of the Year, surrendered nine hits to the Beavers and allowed just one earned run against six strikeouts.

Farmington junior Joe Sullivan dominated from the hill in game two of the twinbill, holding Colby-Sawyer hitless through one out in the fourth inning when he yielded a single by T.J. O'Connor to left field.

The Beavers broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth when Cabaniss singled up the middle to score McCrossin, who reached on a lead-off single to left field two batters earlier.

The first four Farmington batters of the fifth inning all singled to put two more runs on the scoreboard for the Beavers, including RBI base hits by Grady and Grayson Beressi. Grady crossed later in the frame on a two-out wild pitch.

Colby-Sawyer threatened to break Farmington's shutout bid in the top of the seventh, with three two-out singles to load the bases. Sullivan finally completed the win when he got the Chargers' Jon Wylie, the sixth Colby-Sawyer batter of the frame, to strike out looking.

Cabaniss, Grady, and Brett Wallingford each had two-hit games for Farmington, including a double by Cabaniss in the second.

Vinny Monahan had a pair of hits for the Chargers, while starter PJ Singster allowed four earned runs on eight hits and was charged with the loss.

UMaine-Farmington continues play down in Florida on Saturday, when it faces Medaille College (N.Y.) at 2:30 p.m. in Auburndale, Fla.
