Southern Maine gives Field Hockey First Loss of the Season

FARMINGTON, ME – UMaine-Farmington field hockey outshot and had more scoring opportunities, but the Southern Maine Huskies found their way to a 2-0 victory on Wednesday at Prescott Field. 

The Beavers were looking for their first 3-0 start since 2010, but did not get the memo. Peyton Dostie scored her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute as she had a breakaway goal and struck it past UMF goalie Pattie Smith. The Beavers had their chances with 12 penalty corners but could not sneak one past USM goalie Amanda Kasbohm. 

Leanne Reichert scored her first goal of the season as received the pass from Samantha Crosman and knocked it through the pipes. UMF outshot the Huskies 14-7 but Huskies were able to make two them count.

Patty Smith snagged three saves in the game, but she gets the loss and falls to 2-1 on the season. Amanda Kasbohm earns her first win of the season while saving 11 shots.

UMaine-Farmington (2-1) will travel to Daniel Webster on Sunday, September 14th for a five game road trip. Southern Maine (2-2) will host Bridgewater State on Saturday, September 13th as a part of a three game home stand.
