Box Score STANDISH, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington (8-4) jumped out early, but Saint Joseph's College (11-4) rallied in the second half to steal a 2-1 non-conference win on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.
The game was scoreless for nearly the first thirty minutes until the Beavers were able to get on the scoreboard. After the offensive attack started with a penalty corner, UMF moved in for the score and Emma Martineau (Greene, Maine/Leavitt) tallied the goal after a scramble in front of the cage with the assist coming from Rebecca Young (Plainfield, N.H./Kimball Union Academy).
UMF's lead stayed intact for the remainder of the opening half, but the Monks rallied with two early goals in the second half. Saint Joe's used penalty corners to its advantage in the 43rd and 54th minute when Amanda Celata tied the game and then scored the decisive goal. Michalia Parent assisted both goals.
Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) recorded a pair of saves for the Beavers.
UMaine-Farmington will host Castleton on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the regular season finale.
