BANGOR, Maine – After starting the season off with six straight victories, Husson University put the first two blemishes on an undefeated season with two North Atlantic Conference victories over the University of Maine at Farmington (6-2, 1-3) on Friday afternoon. The Eagles claimed the afternoon with a, 3-2, win and a, 4-1, showing.

UMF starter Kyle Peterson (Bethel, Maine) ran into some trouble in the third inning. After a hit by pitch and an error, the Eagles played some small ball by laying down a sacrifice bunt. Husson cashed in with back-to-back RBI singles to left field. After three full innings, Husson led a, 2-0, lead.

The Eagles added one more in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI double. The Beavers rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth inning with two RBI singles, but it was too little too late.

Peterson pitched a complete game and only allowed one earned run and struck out five Eagles.

In game two, Husson held the number three ranked offense in the country to only one run. UMF got on the board in the fourth inning with a double from Ethan Gouin (Sanford, Maine), who plated Jimmy Neal (Farmington, Maine) from first.

Joe Sullivan (Lewiston, Maine) also pitched a complete game for the Beavers and struck out four while giving up all four earned runs.

UMaine-Farmington gets back into the swing of non-conference play with a doubleheader at Fisher College on Monday. Game one starts at 11:00 a.m.
