NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – A pair of comeback victories for the University of Maine at Farmington baseball team (8-2, 0-2) secured a day-night doubleheader sweep over Fisher College on Monday at the New England Baseball Complex.

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Beavers were down to their final nine outs and trailing, 2-0.

Ethan Gouin (Sanford, Maine) led off the fifth inning with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Tyler Flayhan (Sanford, Maine) stepped up and belted an RBI double to right field, then advanced to third on an error. Tom Grady (Whitefield, Maine) tied the game for UMF with a ground out to the second baseman, sending Flayhan home from third.

In the top of the sixth, Ben Keene (Livermore, Maine) started off the inning with a single to left field. After Keene stole second, Grady hit a fly ball to left field that was dropped and Keene motored his way home for the go-ahead score.

Sean Cabaniss (Vassalboro, Maine) had a solid day at the plate in the second game with a team-leading three hits in four trips to the plate.

Bradley Jackson (Wilton, Maine) picked up the win for Farmington after giving up only two hits, one earned run, and four strikeouts in six solid innings of work. Brett Elliott (Danville, Vt.) closed the door in the seventh inning to earn the save.

Game one was scoreless for six solid innings before the Beavers plated the game's only run in the top of the seventh inning. The rally started with one out when Tom Grady (Whitefield, Maine) roped a single to right center field. After Grady advanced to second on a balk, Croteau stepped up to the plate with two outs and lined a double, which allowed Grady to score easily from second.

In the bottom of the frame, UMF hurler Jory Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine) kept his composure after getting into a jam. Fisher led off the inning with a single by Jose Fortuna (Salem, Mass.). The Falcons' attempt to play small ball backfired when a sacrifice bunt attempt popped up to Croteau and the catcher made the easy out. Fortuna stole second and then advanced to third on a ground out.

With two outs and the tying run standing 90 feet way, Humphrey got the final batter to ground out to second baseman Dustin McCrossin (Yarmouth, Maine).

Humphrey pitched a complete game two-hitter for the Beavers and struck out six Falcons in the process. Fisher's only two hits come from a bunt in the third inning and Fortuna's single in the seventh.

UMaine-Farmington plays at Husson, but will be the home team, for a doubleheader on Thursday at 2:00 p.m
