HENNIKER, N.H. – The University of Maine at Farmington softball team was overcome by Lyndon State College in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader on Sunday with an, 8-0, loss in game one and falling, 14-2, in the second game.

The Beavers could only put together three hits as a team from Shelby Bryant (So. Portland, Maine), Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine), and Alison Hamilton (Portsmouth, R.I) in round of the day series.

Abby Burdin (Guilford, Maine) started in the circle and pitched 2 1/3 innings with a strike out. Emily Vitone (Westminster, Maine) came on to finish the game in relief and struck out three hitters and surrendered three hits.

Hannah Lust (Bangor, Maine) slapped a two-run single in game two for the Beavers in the first inning. Katie Clark (Westbrook, Maine) reached on a fielder's choice and Meryl Bond (Jefferson, Maine) singled to left center, then Bond and Clark moved into scoring position with an error by the left fielder.  

The Beavers took their, 2-0, lead into the bottom of the frame but the Hornets quickly washed it away with a ten-run inning.

Courtney Fowler (Greensboro, N.C.) got the nod in the second game with Vitone and Kristen Manzo coming after 1 1/3 to relieve Fowler.

UMaine-Farmington hosts Thomas College on Monday with a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
