Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – The University of Maine at Farmington made program history on Friday with the most goals scored since 2012. Maddi Kadnar (Belgrade, Maine) contributed four goals to a non-conference win over Daniel Webster at Melander field, with a final score of 20-1.
The Beavers outscored Eagles, 11-1, in the opening period including ten straight to open the game. Carly Raymond (Topsham, Maine), Sierra Gilley (Harpswell, Maine), and Ayla Allen (Rumford, Maine) each found the back of the net twice in the first half.
UMF rolled with the punches in the second half with nine more unanswered goals. Kadnar beat DWC keeper Kassandra Scalon-Napier three times in the final period. Alaina Shorey (Lebanon, Maine) split her offensive scoring attack with a goal in the first half and added another in the second half.
A pair of first year players scored their first collegiate goals with Sasha Hampton netting a pair and Sarah Porkorny (Wayne, Maine) adding one more.
Farmington had 11 different players score a goal in the non-conference contest. Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine), Jaclyn Langevin (Bow, N.H.), and Danielle Conway (Lakeville, Maine) each added a goal to round out UMF's scoring spree.
The Beavers won nearly every facet of the game tonight, topping the Eagle in the turnover battle (18-16), ground balls (49-23), shots (31-6), and draw controls (21-5). Allen was unstoppable by winning 11 of the team's 21 draw controls.
On the defensive end, Rhi Jackson (Saco, Maine) scooped up a game-high six ground balls and Kayla Tremblay, Erica Letellier, and Raymond were right behind her with five ground balls apiece.
In goal, Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine) had a slow night with three saves on four shots but picked up her first career victory.
UMaine-Farmington will ride the momentum into Saturday while hosting Green Mountain College. The game is set to start at 10:00 a.m. and will take place at Smith Field on the campus of Thomas College.
