Hatch Sets a New Career Mark in Loss to Emerson

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington (1-2) senior goalie Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) set a career-high with 17 saves in Sunday's 4-0 non-conference loss to Emerson at Leib Field.

Emerson charted the first goal of the contest with less than 10 minutes remaining in the opening half. Natalie Benjamin fired a shot that hit the post, but the rebound found the foot of Tayllar Righini, who sent home the score to give the Lions the lead.

The Lions doubled their lead midway through the final period when Christine White lined a shot into the right side of the goal from just inside the box.

Katie Clark (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) tried to get the Beavers on the scoreboard with a free kick, but her shot sailed just high of the crossbar.

UMF had another chance to score off an Emerson turnover later in the half. The turnover landed in front of the goal but a Beaver could not get a boot on it.

The Lions added two more unanswered goals late in the second half for the final margin of victory.

Hatch  set a career-high with 17 saves today, breaking her personal high of 15 saves last season. Hatch had a busy afternoon as the Lions sent 34 shots her way.

UMaine-Farmington hits the road on Tuesday for non-conference action at the University of New England.
